Doctora en Biología por la Universidad de Santiago de Compostela (España) en 1998. Realizó varias estancias postdoctorales, incluyendo el Instituto Cajal-CSIC, Madrid (España), el Reed Neurology Center, UCLA, Los Ángeles (EE. UU.) y el Instituto Pasteur, París (Francia). Aporta más de 20 años de experiencia en investigación en neurociencias en el campo de la enfermedad de Alzheimer y otras enfermedades neurodegenerativas. En 2005 se incorporó al Instituto de Investigación del Hospital 12 de Octubre, Madrid (España) como investigador Miguel Servet y en 2021 al Instituto de Salud Carlos III como Científico Titular. El grupo de Neurobiología del Alzheimer se formó en 2021 y centra su actividad científica en la necesidad de potenciar la investigación traslacional en el campo de enfermedad de con especial atención al estudio sobre biomarcadores de la enfermedad y factores de riesgo modificables. Está integrado en el CIBER de Enfermedades Neurodegenerativas (CB06/05/0022).
