Regeneración Neural

La principal línea de investigación de la Unidad de Regeneración Neural es el estudio de la biología de células madre neurales y pluripotenciales, y su aplicación terapéutica en neurodesarrollo y neurodegeneración. Entendiéndose la aplicación terapéutica como obtención de modelos celulares adherentes (2D) y generación de organoides cerebrales (3D) aplicados a:

  1. Investigación básica. Mejora e implementación de dichos modelos en nuestro entorno para su uso por los investigadores que lo necesiten en su experimentación (colaboraciones con investigadores de distintos centros del ISCIII y nacionales/internacionales)
  2. Estudio de los mecanismos moleculares y celulares implicados en diferentes enfermedades neurológicas tanto del neurodesarrollo como neurodegenerativas (enfermedad de Alzheimer y/o Parkinson).
  3. Búsqueda de nuevos biomarcadores diagnósticos y el descubrimiento de nuevas dianas terapéuticas. Cribado de compuestos/drogas para el futuro tratamiento de enfermedades neurológicas.
  4. Posibles aplicaciones en terapias avanzadas (terapia de reemplazo celular y/o génica) y de medicina personalizada o de precisión.
